Statistics of Saints

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Does anybody knows about a site where I can find the statistics about: how many saints were canonized in a specific year (or at least a century), and also how many saints lived in a specific year or a century? i want to find out which were the "popular" times of canonizing saints and which were less, etc. thanks!

Get lost Alex!

Paul, I don't know why you deleted my last post saying the same thing to Alex. He is one of the worse Catholic haters to ever come to forum.

Catholic hater, then Gods word must hate Catholics as well? Its not hate its truth that reveals the lie. I dont call for inquisitions as the popes have to persacute God fearing men who love the Lord and stand for His holy word. Hate is in tradition and Gods word exposes it. You claim blindly about what Gods word shall reveal clearly. Greetings: No where in scripture do you see a man being named a saint by another man, therefore the popes have no authority from God to declare who a saint is. Many so called Catholic saints have failed scripture to be even a servant of the Lord, so know Jesus and be a saint. They who seek these so called saints in prayer, are they who are an abomination to the Lord, Deuteronomy 18.

To claim Jesus and not the Church is denying Christ because he instuted the Church and the Holy Father... I will stop there because you do not want to see the light so there is no point in me babling on.... I shall pray to Saints of God and The Blessed Virgen for you!

It is strange how you read the Bible there Trust. The word saint is not used. He does talk about people doing witchcraft, socery and other things. But a saint would not do these things. But your idea of faith is just to shallow and too simplistic.

I beg that you give me the name of a few saints that have “failed scripture.” How about Augustine, Jerome or the Apostles? Why should the Church not have this authority? Scripture doesn’t speak of many of the things that we do today. How do we know Jesus’ age since it doesn’t state his age in the Bible?

People who want to interpret the Bible on their own without an authority over them are denying the humanness of man and are being spoken to by satan. - That was just a quick sum of what Augustine would say.

Hello, Adam.
I can give you some help, though not as convenient the kinds of summaries as you'd probably like.

For any given pontificate, from 1592 to the present, I can find out for you how many blesseds and saints were canonized (and most of their names), by using lists to which I have access.

If you have the patience to do almost 2000 look-ups, you can use an available Church-history time-line on the Internet. First plug in the following URL:
http://www.catholic-forum.com/saints/yearYYYY.htm
Then change the "YYYY" to any number from 0033 through 2003, and you'll see some of the pertinent historical facts for the year in question -- including births, deaths, beatifications, and canonizations of saints and blesseds.

God bless you.
John
