F4S 2002 VS 2003

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

I've been reading the subjects of this site for a couple of weeks. I'm currently shopping for an F4. I've seen some dealers on the internet who are still selling some '02 models. I've read the new engine specs/ changes of the EVO3 on the US MV site. I have not been able to find any info on the engines of 2002 models. Are the new engine changes worthwhile? I could save about $4000.00 (U.S) by purchasing a 2002 model. I do not plan on track riding. Mainly commuting and the occasional long distance run. I've looked through the site and I did not find any subject titles asking the same question. If this question is a repeat, I apologize in advance.

Thanks, Tim

Hi,

in comparison the specs of the evo02 to the evo03 seem to be totally equal. Iīm not shure, but I think the fork comes now from Marzocchi, the evo02 has an Showa fork. I own an evo02. The shock-absorber could be changed to from "Standard"-Sachs to a Race-Absorber-Sachs. The Brutale has a Sachs Race-Shock-Absorber with settings for low- and high-speed damping.

Hi Danny, I think you are from Germany, as I am.

If you are interested, have a look at: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/rolf4s_mvagusta/

Would be nice to discuss with you in my/our language.

You are right: I forgot the changes of exhaust and pistons.

On my 02 I have the cans from a 03, the color is different, the new ones are brown, the older ones are black.

Nevertheless the specs - horse power and so on, didnīt change, do they?

I checked MV Agusta USA's site and it appear the changes on the 2003 are only cosmetic.

I asked the dealer and the engine changes for the 2002 vs 2003 are only cosmetic. I went ahead and bought a new 2002 Diamante F4s. I saved $3000 over a new 2003 F4.

And what will you do with the 3K$? :-)

For some reason there were three threads started instead of keeping the conversation in one.

See responses here, incl one from Andrea Goggi - our engine designer:
