Varmint or Tactical ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

I am going to purchase a long range (in excess of 100 yards).223 target rifle. I am going either with the Savage 12FV (varmint)or 10 FP (tactical). Both are right around the same price. Can anyone tell me the real difference between them? Also, which one would be more accurate a very long ranges. Thanks.

On another subject, when is Leupold going to get with it and offer many more of their scopes with the fast focus eyepiece such as is on the Zeiss and Swarovski scopes?

The only difference I see is the FP has an extra swivel for a bi-pod and two inches less barrel. The FP weighs about 4 ounces less also. I'm opting to buy the 12FV, I'll take the extra two inches of barrel and carry the 4 ounces.

i would go with the 10 fp just becuase of the action it has. the 10 fp is time tested and proven to be very good and more reliable.

good luck, Josh
