What kind of activites do you all focus on in winter. I love winter, as it gives me time to plan my garden. Catch up on projects that never got finished. Review farm systems, and make changes. Crochet, sew, cook, etc.... How about ya'll?

This winter I have started over wintering outdoor decorative plants for people in my neighborhood utilizing my new scrap material pit greenhouse. I have 160 hanging ferns and such to maintain and store until spring. The owners are paying me $2 per pant and I get two propagations off each plant. One propagation is insurance as specified in the liability release in case the mother plants doesnt over winter and one is for my own use. If the mother overwinters and thrives, I get both propagations for my micro nursury. The $2 per plant is to cover water and fertilizer costs.

I always love winter! I will be baking cookies soon and freezing them for the holidays and gifts. I plan to do a lot of baking with our new wood cookstove this winter. There are more crochet and quilting projects than I can get done this winter and it's the time we all do more reading.

There are those never ending projects on this house that we work on in the winter too. This past year my husband made me two large, and very nice pantry areas in the kitchen. He is going to use his router to groove the doors where they will have the look of "separate" boards, then we'll paint and add the black, colonial style of hardware (it was the least expensive hardward too - that was a nice surpise). We are also changing the entry into the bathroom from the dining room area (ugh - you know those old houses :->) to entering from the utility/mud room. I think guests will feel a lot more comfortable :-), and....it will save the kitchen and dining room floors from a lot of dirt since we can come from the outside and into the bathroom without going through those two other rooms first.
