I wonder if this particular Mass will be done away with in our future. This is the mass that I can remember since I was a child. The rail is missing.

Hi Rod,

Those are great photos of the Most Holy Latin Tridentine Mass.

No, the Most Holy Latin Tridentine Mass will never be done away with. In fact, in July of 1988 Pope John Paul II issued the Apostolic Letter known as Ecclesia Dei. In this letter, he acknowledged the "rightful aspirations" of those attached to the Latin liturgical tradition and declared that "respect must everywhere be shown" for their feelings. In that same year, the Pope blessed the mission of a new Order dedicated to the preservation of this tradition, the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter.

I attend the Latin Tridentine Mass every so often ~ nothing compares to its Grandeur, Solemnity, and Tradition.

Peace be with you.

Did V2 Liberals prevail? Yes. Father Henrici, S.J., an advocate of the New Theology said that de Lubac's theology "which insists on the non-opposition between nat- ure and supernature...BECAME THE OFFICIAL THEOLOGY OF VATICAN II." Further, Father Henri Boulliard, another disciple of the New Theology, wrote in triumph that the word "supernatural" does not appear in any of the major documents of Vatican II. Who were some other admirers of the New Theology? At Vatican II, two prominent admirers were Father Joseph Ratzinger from Germany and Archbishop Karol Wojtyla from Poland. As these two men advanced in today's Church, so did the influence and acceptance of the "New Theology," despite its condemnation by Pius XII. In the 1980s, de Lubac and von Balthasar were both named Cardinals, without ever having to retract their dangerous doctrines. Disciples of the New Theology fill many theological chairs at Catholic universities world- wide.

Doesn't the fact that some of these men were named Cardinals guarantee their orthodoxy? No. Church history is replete with examples of various types of un- sound men being promoted to high position - Judas being the first.

I should thank "Emerald" from the Catholic Forum for posting the link first.

Rod,

We've been doing the Latin Tridentine Mass for 2000 years, and it's here to stay. Pope John Paul wanted the vernacular to be used in the Novus Ordo Mass to reach out to more people to the ends of the earth. Incorporation of Latin in the Novus Ordo Mass is permitted. However, those "traditionalist schismatics" like SSPX and Sedevacantists are in heretical opposition to Pope John Paul II and the Magisterium for not advocating the Novus Ordo. Nevertheless, they are only a mere splinter among the 1 Billion Catholics and they do not constitute any threat at all. To clarify the position of The Church regarding the Great Tradition of the Latin Tridentine Mass, the Pope formed the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter which celebrates the Mass in its pre- Vatican II Latin Glory and which is in full communion with him and the Magisterium.

BTW, the liberal and radical theologies of Emerald and Jake are in disrepute among truly traditional mainstream Catholics like Eugene, Paul h, and Paul, who follow ALL the doctrines of the Pope and the Magisterium.

I've never been to a Tridentine Mass before. What should be worn?

Clothes!

Just kidding. I guess you are wondering about wearing a veil on your head, yes? I don't know.
