Another Tales iof Mystery Question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

I have a question on the book Tales of Mystery and Imagination. IU have a copy of this book and watch everyone seem to place a date on it, yet this copy is undated. It is black, hardcover has a paste picture on the front, has London, George G Harrap and New York Brentano's as publishers. The color illustrations are by clark and attached to the pages. Printed in Great Britan at the Ballentine Press. 382 pages (does not count the picture pages which are unnumbered.

With this can someone help me to know what date this might have been published.

Your volume is the new edition (the first one appeared in 1919, only in London Harrap, and without the 8 later additional Clarke's colour plates) published (undated) by Harrap (London) and Brentano's (New York) for Christmas 1923, as attested by a (sometimes missing!) fly- leaf dedication from the artist. Often described as a "(1924)" first (new) edition for the US (+ UK, evidently) market. Several (either dated or undated) reprints, even recently. More common (less scarce) than the first British 1919 one... Hoping this helpful for you, Yours sincerely, Raven's Shade (Belgium).
