LBF! Good article for the person who wants to build a splitter. Old Jeep built one a couple years ago. He's still tinkerin with it and addin things he wants. He just completed the hydrolic lift which lifts the big chunks up to the splittin table. An old 7' piece of railroad rail [from the days of the steam engines] was used for the I beam. It may bend under tremendous pressure but will come back as soon as the pressure is released. The reason for the old steamer rail is because of the wider "foot" of those old dudes. It's turned upside down anyhow so it makes a bigger "table" for the log to lay on while the ram splits it.
