VCD Showing 'No Disc' on my Sony DVP-s536d

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I was given a VCD, which should work on by DVD player (UK version) according to my manual and dvdrhelp.com. But when I place the VCD in the player the message ‘No Disc’ is displayed. However the VCD does play on my PC when associated with windows media player. Can you advise how I may configure/setup or any other method (apart from buying a new DVD player) my DVD player for VCD's, if at all possible.

Almost all DVD players are made in Asia and VCD is they're standard so almost all DVD players will play VCD's, BUT they are often blocked for the US market. Here is the good part. You can go to www.dvd365.net and click on "HACKS" at the top of the page and you'll get a list of makers. Find your DVD player and it will tell you how to unblock your player. These are all REAL easy using your remote control. You can also unblock reg coding if you like.
