I need some ghillie suit suggestions

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

I started a suit about 6 months ago at first i used 3-4 inch netting and that was a mistake it had to many thin spots. second it was to dark so i bought more burlap and died it light green then i mixed it in with the other stuff. I didnt use stips at all i took burlap sacks/rolls and pulled every individual strip out so i would have more burlap to work with. latley i didnt like the boonie hat idea and so i took everything off my bdu's and know im using 1 inch netting in a poncho style that i might attach to a bdu shirt. so should i use the bdu shirt and should i put some thicker pieces in the suit

Dude, N E V E R wear it and crawl across a field of short grass were you look like a clump. When I'm board, I shoot clumps, rocks, birds and anything to check my zero. I really wanted you to know this because you looked like a clump and not a person. Safe hunting, Don.

I made my g-suit , just look around for some olivegreen netting, mine was 1"x1" then i just mixed and matched cut up bdu's and green and brown clothing peices, this made it vary in shade, creating a natural looking effect, this is a KISS moment ( keep it simple stupid) that was what i was told when it was explained to me, and it worked fine , i use mine to hunt and paintball in, and i always have a very good advantage ("of getting stepped on") seriously it has happened. well hope this helped, www.google.com is a good site, just search for field craft and gullie suit making , u get the point, have a good one Peace Psycho

Use " as less as possible, as much as needed " burlap, make it very light coloured,( you can easely darken up a light background, than to lighten a dark one). attach verry much rubber bands ( i use those of my BDU jacket Be type) for natural foilage. You need it,make a hose in your back, to breeth out in cold weather ( no fog or frost) make a piece of cloth to cover your neck, reduces the itchy feeling. use our imagination, but remember, a ghilly is never comfterable or ready.

Try to build the base on mesh. Then attach material made of poly, not cotton, wool or burlap. Makes it cool, does´nt burn with an open flame, will not soak up water and most important, will not leave a whole sting of threds behind you.
