Edgar Allen Poe is like the saddest most depressed poe ever. all of his poems are about death or depression. The only happy one is something about some Helen woman.

The Helen poem you are refering to is written when he is returning to a funeral for a funeral...it is called To Helen and it contains the lines: Thy niad airs, thy hyacinth face, have brought me home to the glory that was greece and the grandeur that was rome, refering that he was returnig home...so this one was written in a time of darkness too

Edgar allan poe was an extremely talented poet who could twist words and say what he felt and what he meant in poetry. not many people in his day wrote on such morbid topics, and him writing the way he did probably influenced people to also write about death and sadness. he probably opened the eyes of many people to show them that there is a bad side of life. a dark realm of existance. he was an awesome dude and i would have been his friend. :) -Avian-
