Lessons Learned Installing version 2.1 of the Local CRL Caching Solution

Today I began installing said software and ran into a few difficulties. The first problem was the software installation (when following the DOD PKE Teams Instructions) would fail about half way through. Finally determined it was a problem installing the software while connected to the console via Terminal Services.

At the present time, I am stuck while attempting to perform the steps D-1 of the Local CRL Caching Solution Installation Guide, dated 10/1/2003. I am supposed to be replacing Sldap.user_at.conf and Sldap.user_oc.conf with files from the downloaded caching software. I cannot find these files and am going to wait until Monday to complete.

The software has been up and running without any issues for several weeks. This morning, I tested what happens when a client is configured to use the local CRL cache and the machine was not available. To test this, I disconnected my the CRL machine from the network and went back to my machine, which is configured to use the local CRL cache, logged out of the network and back in, launched Outlook and began reading signed messages. There was no noticable delay in opening signed messages.
