Dried flowers and Potpourri

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

I grew a selection of cutting flowers this year, right now I am in the process of drying flowers and making potpourri. Actually my potpourri method is easy, and effective. Right now you can by what is labeled as potpourri in bags at just about any dollar store. However other than the scent it is a poor excuse for the real thing. It is mostly made of wood chips and other filler, that is only a pretty color because it is dyed. My method, is to purchase this cheap but already scented potpourri and use it as the scent base for adding my own dried flowers, and herbs. The result is I do not have to mess with volatile oils, and I have my own signature potpourri, that really looks like potpourri. I am also drying flowers and araingin them in small bouquets as well. The flowers are just lovely, and maintain their color well in the drying.
