I fryed the Mower

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

I am only 15 and currently working on a racing lawnmower. I tried to wire a car horn in in almost every single wire coming out of the mowers engine. Any how, I'm open to any suggestions on how to wire the horn, and recover the engine(that wont even turn over).

im no expert but ive been building small engined...."projects" for about10 years,,, yea im only 21.. anyways to install a horn is very easy..it has two wires... a positive and a negative

a couple of things to look for:

1. is your mower 6 volt or 12 volt (standard car horns are 12 volt 2. (if you are pushing 12 volts)((6 volts may work just not as good)) all you have to do is run the negative wire from the horn to the frame anywhere on the mower (make sure the connection is good) Then run the positive wire up to any toggle switch or button of some kind in a convenient spot, then run the positive wire from that switch to any wire from the mower pushing out 6~12 volts.. easy as that

let me know if i helped.. im in a hurry

Well, after taking a good look at the mower, i figured out that i initally just over rigged the thing and didn't make a easy complete circuit to go by. Thats probably how i fried the thing, sorry i can't provide anymore, but time dictates that now i focus on working on fixing more important things, I'll let the post know as soon as i start again.
