I don't put a real mailaddress on a forum , except when you need to registrate yourself , but in that case , I'll hide my address for all the visitors , otherwise I get a lot of trash in my mailbox , I really hate junkmail , most of them contains sex & porn , no need for that kind of junkmail , I don't even open them , all junk go automatic to the trashcan !!!!

Hello,

I also receive a "mail failure" message in my email every time I post to the forum. Frankly, I don't know exactly why. It does not affect the messages I post. They appear on the forum, just as I intended. I just delete the "failure" messages when they appear. Sorry I can't be more helpful with this. It apparently has something to do with the fact that the address "Catholic Moderator@hotmail.com" is no longer in effect, though I don't know why that fact should generate such messages. If you do wish to reach me as moderator, you can email me at PaulCyp@cox.net

Dear Zarove, I think we all share in your problem of delivery failure notices. You get a long string of them sometimes. Right? Me too. I checked into it & found that it doesn't mean that it didn't get posted to the forum. However it is a nuisance. First make certain that all of the mail is only the failure notices. IF u don't have any other mail in the way, u can click in the sender box and the box right under it and then click 'delete' & it will delete the whole mess of them at once.

I know you don't even want to see these things Zarove, but it is a punishment for your sins. (a little joke, there).

The software used to create this forum was designed to automatically generate an email to the "Catholic Moderator@hotmail.com" address with every posting so that the moderator can more easily monitor forum activity. It also automatically generates emails to anyone who's signed-up to receive alerts or if the original poster asked to receive alerts with each new posting to a particular thread. And anytime the software attempts to deliver an automatic email, but fails, the system generates those failure notices.

Paul, you may have some options for stopping those messages. I'd suggest contacting Phil Greenspun and ask if the "Catholic Moderator@hotmail.com" address can be changed to one you set-up to review the postings or ask if he can instruct you how to stop the autogeneration function. Anytime I've contacted him in the past, he's been very responsive and cordial.

The other way not to receive those notifications is to use a fake email address when posting (like I just did for this one).

The e-mail back address can be changed to anything you want. In the administration section there's a notification area at the bottom, and I've (hopefully helpfully) turned off the notification for the moderator. An individual's notifications though are set by the individual and can be turned off or on as you wish.
