Ballistics for 7.62 Nato Ball

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MILDOT : One Thread

Greetings,

I am breaking in a new rifle, Savage FP-10, and wondering if anyone has a 26" Ballistics chart for 7.62 Nato Ball? I am using it now and grouping at 100 yards less than .5 inch. I am totally impressed by a gun that was less than 450 dollars?

How accurate is military ball out to 500 yards/meters?

I here you on the difference between military issue ammo, we shot a whole day with a batch of ammo (7.62 Ptr 10) that was defect, turned out that the casings were weak and burst open when fired, afterwards there was a crack in them! (omg)

The loss of gas-pressure obviously made for some interesting results downrange. We sent the whole batch back to FMV (responsible munition unit in sweden)

Ballistic tables are very individual for each type of rifle, so make your own with the same kind of ammo each time.

Nice looking rifle! Can you give me the mussle velocity, the bulletīs BC and weight, iīll build you one and send it to you.

Military ball is not that reliable, depends on what series you shoot. Say you have some boxes from a serie made in november 91, third batch, it shoots great but with ammo from nov. 91, first batch, you couldnīt hit a barn from inside. Military ammo makers make milions of rounds and once in a while the machines needs to be recalibrated. So the more rounds that go thru the machines, the more unaccurate they will become. When you stumble over a good serie, stockpile it!!!!! With my rifle, a Accuracy International AW, military ball (swedish ptr10) is in the 20-30 mm most of the time. The best at 11mm and the worst at 55mm and i have a lot of "11mm" boxes.
