Ghillie Hood

I have made a ghillie suit from a set of old BDU's any suggestions on how to construct a hood and fasten it on the suit?

If we're going to get all technical and shit, besides restricting vision and trapping unwanted body heat a hood also stiffles your hearing, which is extremely important in dense vegitation and especially at night. The boonie hat works great if you cut off the sides and trim down the front brim. leave the back one long so your veil will flow over your scope. After some time in the field you'll get used to your bonnie or decide how to modify it to best suit your liking.

Ya maybe a bonnie is a better idea for you, I personally use both and for me both are good but I do tend to use the bonnie more. Some problems with hoods are that it is hotter under them and you lose your peripheral vision (vision from the corner of your eyes). But bonnies tend to get annoying in there own respect and in some cases lost. The way I use both a hood and a bonnie on my suit is I have normal sowing clip buttons on the colure of my ghillie jacket and I can just clip in the hood to that or if not then just use the bonnie. Be aware to either bend then edge of the hood and colure or paint the metal clips on the buttons because they reflect light. There are other ways tho like sowing it on but then you can’t use the bonnie and I don’t know how people can think of this in the first place but people also use Velcro. Never ever use that stuff on the suit other then attaching things inside pockets but it A) makes a lot of noise when taking stuff of it and B) dirt, plants, grass, you name it and it will attach to the Velcro. so all in all if you want a good attachment for your hood is some normal sowing clip on buttons. Email me if you want some diagrams or written out instructions, but if you spent some time on a bonnie then I’m sure it wouldn’t go to waste. Have a good one mate.

Don't bother. Hoods suck. Use a bonnie cover.
