Regainnetwork.org attacks Catholic Church subtly

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

As a note to all Catholics who are outraged by slammers of the Church, take a look at regainnetwork.org which is basicly a slam of the Pope & the Legion of Christ. What do you say if we flood this network with some real Catholics?

Dear someone,

In all due respect, the people who run that site are begging the general public to give them more free publicity. Going there with your friends would only pay them the compliment of attention.

Besides, looking at past posters' attempts if you post anything critical of the LC, you are instantly a wise, intelligent, free- thinking maverick. If you beg to differ with their negativity or spin though - in any way - you are first requested to leave, and then your motive, history, and intelligence is questioned, and trashed. Then they will claim that you are "really" an agent of their enemies, that this was a conspiracy, yada yada yada.

Yes, it IS shrill. Yes, they do make abysmally basic logical mistakes and their arguments (such as they are) begin with begging the question and end with bait and switch tactics. But this is all the more reason to leave them alone. They'll implode on their own.

Besides, their new rules are that only ex-Legionaries and ex-RC members can post. If you are neither a former seminarian or former RC member, your profile doesn't fit their requirements. They have repeatedly said that that site is only for people with NEGATIVE experiences or feelings. I think we should respect those rules.

I also think we should all pray for their conversion and healing. There are alot of seriously unhappy people over there. As a rule of thumb, people who live fixated on past "injustices" create not only a distorted view of the past, but also of the present. Our best arguments drop like water off a ducks back.

The best thing to do is pray for them, and support the Pope and all other good Catholic activities. Eventually the cognitive dissonance will be so great that they'll have to either walk towards the light or foresake reason altogether.
