Does the colour of a main anime character's hair/eyes have any special significances and if it does, what does each colour mean?

Ok..here U go: Blue = shy, intelligent green = energic and very protective pink = really girly like red = energic and wild blond , (white) and pink = pure, innocent black, brown = (mostly means nothing) purple = evil or mysterious ...well..I`m in a hurry..that`s all I know for now ^_^

funny, I don't think of Kaname from fmp as a shy girl, or Karen from onegai twins as energetic.

Well, I read in a book about anime that hair color is important in anime. The color itself doesn't really mean so much, it's more is the color natural or not. According to what I read, an unnatural color (which for the Japanese is pretty much anything other than black or brown) can denote that the character is not in their true form physically or mentally. For instance, Ranma's hair turns red when he turns into a girl which isn't his true form.

It can also just mean that the character is an unnatural being, like a god or a demon. Plus sometimes, they make a bad guy's hair color bright and colorful just so they stand out. But truthfully I don't think that there's a color formula to it.

so in conclusion, it could mean anything or nothing.
