less than 24 hours, more than max hourly

greenspun.com : LUSENET : zipcar : One Thread

I just reserved a zip car for this Saturday (a trip to Mass MOCA.) I'll need it for most of the day, but certaintly not all of it. It would be nice if there was some sort of system to reward people who exceed the max hourly rate, but don't need the car for the full 24 hours.

That way, there would be a financial incentive for me to, e.g., not reserve the full block. Right now, I am moral enough not to start the reservation at 12.01 am, but sadly not moral enough to be more on top of my planned schedule and bring the car back for others to use before 11.59 pm.

I'm moral enough that once I was done with the car, I'd happily "release it" for someone else to use, just as a courtesy to other members. Since many reservations are made just before driving, there is still some chance someone would snap up the car.
