Second Verizon Phone Line

greenspun.com : LUSENET : SpannMan's Logbook : One Thread

Today I called Verizon (410.954.6200) and ordered a second phone line. The new number will be 410.833.5668. The order number for this installation is 195276239. The monthly cost will be $16.05 per month. This is considered a limited plan. The account is allowed 65 calls per month. Over 65 charges $0.09 per call. There is another unlimited plan for $22.79 per month.

The installation will occur next Monday, the 15th of September. They will basically turn service on to the house. There is a $95 jack installation charge if I want the computer room jack switched to the new number. To avoid this charge, I can have this work done.

We lost power to the house several days ago. Since that time, we have not been able to connect to the internet. I called CCPL and asked if they were having any connectivity issues. They responded they were not. I logged another problem call with Verizon and left them my new cell phone number.

We are scheduled for the 25th of May.

The second phone line was finally installed yesterday. I was able to move the AirPort Extreme down to the closet and install it. Appears to be working fine. I directly attached the AirPort Extreme into the Network Interface.

I called in another trouble report this morning. They are going to send a technician today.

On Monday, September 15th, Steve Meushaw, Cable Splicing Technician from Verizon came to the house and apparently found there was some wiring in the network box that was not properly crimped. He made the necessary fixes and the static problem appeared to be gone.

Steve's phone number is 410.393.9079

The problem reappeared again that evening. I called in another trouble report.

On Tuesday, Richard Lynner, Cable Splicing Technician from Verizon came to the house and was not able to reproduce the problem. He and I spoke on the phone and he gave me his number and asked me to leave him a voicemail if the problem reappears.

Richard's phone number is 410.393.9058

The static was back with a vengence last night and I left Richard a voicemail.

The Verizon repair phone number is 800.275.2355. They have a seperate database and our home number was not in their system. The suggestion by Mike was to test our home at the network interface. If this call is clear, the problem is in our home. If this call is not clear, the problem is in the network. Our home number does not have a maintenence plan, so if the problem is in our home, we pay. We do not pay if the problem is in the network.
