David needs to do further investigations.

David, you really should investigate the following before you accuse the Catholic Church of worshipping Isis:

1. the "Black Modanna".

2. Pre-Christianity in southern France.

3. Mary Magdalene's life in France after the Resurrection of Christ.

4. The Catholic Church views of the "Black Modanna".

5. Isis and Horus: Depicted in art.

6. the significant understanding of Song of Songs 3:1-4

7. Mary Magdalene's role in Christianity: truth or myth?

Answers

rod,

That's not all they worship. They also worship another Jesus.

I dare say that we are being lied to by history. I think that the Catholic Church is either hiding the facts, perpetuating the truth, or is fixing the errors of the Christian Religion. There are many mysteries to the Gospel. Have you noticed that Notre Dame is a very French deal? Things didn't get too serious until France made them serious in regards to the Virgin Mary. But, I'm not so sure that it is the actual Virgin Mary that France has perpetuated. I think that Mary Magdalene may have had a very strong influence and is now disguised as the Virgin Mary. Magdalene may have perpetuated the "Black Modanna". Many people may not even realize this. Further study should clarify things and prove my thinking wrong.

rod,

The Gospel is not something mysterious that only certain people or theologians can understand. The Gospel is plain and simple. The Catholic Church is covering up things, and making up history.

David! I wish that we could spend a week in intense study of history and how it relates to the story of Jesus. You would be thrown into an uneasy feeling learning about Christ from a different perspective. The evidence would bring a nauseaus feeling to your traditional understandings. If you think the Catholic Church is false, the evidence I speak of would pull the carpet from under Christianity itself. I don't fear the Catholic Church; I fear the evidence history shows if you are willing to stare at it.

Wolves in Sheep's Clothing.

This is what we were warned about. Notice it doesn't warn us about Wolves, but wolves in sheep's clothing. True Christians are the sheep and are being mislead by wolves (in sheep's clothing) that go around saying "Can't we all just get along".

I read claims that the Church is an instituation based on the assimilation of Paganism in order to acclimate people to Catholicism. This could be a fair claim, but it could also apply to all Christianity, if you really want to get bold about it. It would all focus on Jesus and His truth. I have read books detailing the life of Jesus. Some of these details are very disturbing and should be brought to light for making them accurate or judging them to be lies.

rod,

I fear no history because it does not side with the Catholic Church. The Roman Church was founded around 300 AD, and Gail's church father quotes don't show the early church was Roman Catholic, it just shows the Roman Church adopted these beliefs.

I have my doubts on those books about Jesus.

Yes, I have doubts, too, of those books about Jesus. But, I'm not talking about the Catholic Church; I'm talking about Christianity. I'm talking about Pre-Christianity. Really, I speak about "Paganism" and how it shaped the Christian concepts. We cannot shy away from that. So, if we can understand the pagan conepts and find them in Christianity, we can learn to reject certain practices or rituals. I feel that such knowledge will lead to better understanding and the truth of that understanding. Here is an example:

You don't view baptism the same as Kevin. I've made an observation that baptism has meant different things at different times. I can also see a primitive symbolism of water washing away sin/evil/heresy.

Ugh! My time on the computer is up. I'm spending time with my wife and kids, so I'll continue this discussion later.

To David, Kevin, Gail, and all of the forumites, have a nice Labor Day. I hope everyone has had today off from work.
