RIAA Question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Animes : One Thread

Is it really in the jurisdiction of the RIAA to sue people who are sharing anything but american things online? I mean, aren't they restricted to by the courts or something so they can't prosecute international copyrights or something?

Answers

they only care about commercial products like music & movie files released in US. hence, unlicensed anime fansubs and music released outside US should be quite safe for sharing.

They can't do shit to you it's against the law you can plead a violation of privacy if they did. while it is their job to moniter these things they can't fine without evidence they can't get evidence without a warrent they can't get awarrent without a reason...it's all just a rumour to minimize the usage of p2p sytems.but if you still don't feel safe get a good firewall......
