a heavy barrel is not always more accurate, there is good and bad in a large diamiter barrel, some of the good is barrel harmonics with a stiffer barrel tend to be more consistent,it takes more rounds to heat a large barrel to the point that it moves enough to make a difference a couple of the bad are a lot of increased weight to haul around, and a lot of extra weight to haul around,a lot goes into a a accurate firearm besides the barrel,.floating the barrrel helps stop or at least reduce barrel deflection by uneven pressure from a sling or rest on the forearm, and also helps with the barrel harmonics (basicly vibration),and there are many more reasons and things that help produce a accurate weapon, but i need to get to the loading bench ,have a garand match this sat.bobby
