Do you have any plans to add a car or two to Roxbury and Dorchester? I asked this question a year ago, and was given a brusque response. You did add two cars at an auto dealership on Morrissey Blvd., but this location is on a busy highway and not easily accessible by walking. In fact, you instruct zipcar members to call the dealership for a ride over. The single zipcar at the Ashmont T station is insufficient for the number of people in the neighborhood.

When are zipcar members in neighborhoods not as hip as Davis Square and Jamaica Plain going to get equal treatment?

Answers

Ashmont is a bit of an "island" location, which means that members will experience some unavailability even at low utilization levels. While this location has been busier over the last few weeks, we haven't seen quite enough sustained demand to justify another car yet. We'll keep monitoring it though.

We plan to add another car at JFK and a Quincy soon -- I know these aren't exactly in this neighborhood, but are close enough, and on the Red Line, to give Ashmont some relief by moving some of the drivers to these locations.
