Molybdenum

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

I need to terminate a 0.03" diameter molybdenum wire to a small molybdenum block. I have had spotty success with a spot welder. I've attempted TIG but the wire mass doesn't match well, and it simply beads atop the cold block. This termination is for a 15 ampere filament in vacuum. I appreciate any suggestions. Van

Moly to Moly is generally a fairly easy weld. Resistance Welding would be considered the best method. You can try a Platinum interface layer if you are not achieving acceptable results. Many companies provide free development labs to recommend the best equipment and settings. Kurt Tolliver Unitek Miyachi Corp.
