Not it is. american anime. I don't think it's online yet....

-- Anonymous, August 12, 2003

I meant to say no it is it's a half breed

-- Anonymous, August 12, 2003

Anime: JAPANESE animation Teen Titans: Show on cartoon network that is about American super heros; shown durring the day and has nothing to do with anime in anyway what so ever; also is not drawn in the style known as anime or has any general anime feel to it (not to mention it isn't even playing in Japan) to call it anime or even half breed anime is a discrace to anime and otaku everywhere.

-- Anonymous, August 12, 2003

I, I'm sorry....*tears* I never meant to shame anime! I meant halfbreed in the sence that it was a vulgar rip off of anime...*eyes fall to the floor*

-- Anonymous, August 12, 2003

Teen titans is a good show, to call it a disgrace ,, what kind of psycho overboard otaku overloaded nut are you man , . i like it, and it seems to have some genuine kewl new ideas , i looked all over the internet man i only found a few eps on certain p2p . programs, but i didnt know there was an older show with the same name, a bunch of that old 60's superfriends crap . that older one really does suck , ..

-- Anonymous, August 21, 2003

You can find all the episodes to date (which is 4 today the 5th episode airs and I'll be in the living room watching it when it does 'u') on kazaa. You can download the newest version of kazaalite (which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND over the older versions and the normal kazaa) at http://www.kazaalite.nl . Anyway yeah.... Teen Titans is great in my opinion...I love it and I can't miss an episode...it and X-Men Evolution are the 2 "non-Japanese animes" that I love. Teen Titans is infact anime, with high Japanese influence...watch it a few times and you'll see....they've got everything from the big heads when shouting to the giant sweatdrop running down the head when embarrased. Even the theme song is done by Puffy Ami Yumi, a very popular well known Japanese pop band. And as for the whole "Anime = Japanese Animation" theory...well, thats false. The Maxx, Aeon Flux, Wizards, and Spawn are just a few that aren't from Japan..however, I know theres people who will argue me down and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about - oh well, thats you.

Anyway you can find all the Teen Titans episodes on Kazaalite. So go and download em'. And I'll just say your welcome right now.

I don't post here or anything but that explosion about anime pisses me off to no end. Anime is the japanese word for animation. ANYTHING ANIMATED IS ANIME. If you say anything different, especially to a japanese person, you sound even more retarded than you do right now. Teen Titans is anime. Transformers is anime. Heck, if I made a flipbook right now out of some old post-it notes, it would be anime. So stop flipping out about "discrace". Geez. And moreover, MOST anime isn't even FROM Japan. Just like american cartoons, most anime studios get their actual animation done in countries like Korea.

-- Anonymous, September 01, 2003

people..the animation company is KOREAN. not american or japanese.

keep that in mind.

if any of you paid attention, you would realize many of the facial expressions are MANGA in style. much like "furi kuri" or whatever cartoon network is calling.

-- Anonymous, September 02, 2003

Um... who cares? If you like it, watch it. If you don't, don't. People put a lot of hard work into creating this thing... it really shouldn't matter if it's anime or not. Not everything that comes out of the US sucks, just like not everything that comes out of Japan is instant gold. Not wanting to step on anyone's toes or anything, but that's just my 2 cents.

you can download them at www.gtinsanity.com thay are only in japanes with inglish sub

-- Anonymous, September 08, 2003

Thanks for the URL, I try to learn japanese anyway^^ Are you sure the link is correct? Somehow it doesn't work :(

-- Anonymous, September 09, 2003

I'll be waiting for the DVD's when they arrive. Personally, I think Teen Titans is the best American action cartoon I've seen(next to Samurai Jack, though SJ never seems to be making any progress, unfortunately) thus far. Did you notice both cartoons are Japanese- influenced? Well, that's my addition.

-- Anonymous, September 13, 2003

What most of you probably dont know is that the teen titans have been around a whole lot longer than you think,(as was hinted at by the referance to the "crappy" 60's cartoon bit) the "teen titans" came out a looooong time ago in comic book form :) (try the "new teen titans" line if you can find it from DC, its quite good).

-- Anonymous, October 01, 2003

no, teen titans is cool! i like it! are u some sorta freak! it was mase in japan so its anime, it was NOT made in america i looked it up on the internet i know, it's anime and u can totally tell to so you can just be quiet! keep your mouth shut if u cant say anything nice at all!!!! ps-oh, poor u, u can't see teen titans?:( i found some episode downloads if u want i caould send them to u.

-- Anonymous, October 05, 2003

-- Anonymous, October 11, 2003

People people!!!! calm down! Right now I have Teen Titans 1 and 2 and i will trade them for Yu-Gi- Oh! eps.

-- Anonymous, October 12, 2003

look guys.. "anime" as we generally speak refers to the ones originated .. it gets kinda corny when u talk to frens about sum anime and ure frens start talking about some american version of it..

here's the thing.. i dont mind american amine .. yes, amine.. thats wut i call it.. however, i HATE dubs since most of them suck-arse.. dude, subs are wayyy better.. and yea, not al japanese animes are awesum, like sailor moon.. *yuck*.. and yep, X-men, samurai jack, teen titans (yes i understand it isnt american, still doesnt matter lets jus categorize it), spawn are hell of a kickass amine..

well the bottom line is.. american animation rocks, japanese animation rocks, any other animation rocks.. BUT dubs are pure FARTS..

dubbed in any language is a fart.. whether frm japanese to english, or english to chinese or anything.. KEEP IT REAL, subs are the BEST..

cant read?.. go to school

Honestly if you guys bothered to look at the ending credits, you will see alot of asian names as the animators. Hell even the people who created the show say they were influenced by anime, name Fooly Cooly as one of the shows that inspired them. And anime was meant to signify Japanese Animation. Thats why people refer to it as Japanimation. Though that does sound like a stupid name and Anime is the more common term used. Teen Titans is an american cartoon with Anime influenced art. Thats the end story on it.

Also I use WinMX and I have most of the first season downloaded on my computer. I am getting episode 10 as I am typing this. Its a great show to watch, it has humour, action and interesting stories based off of the comic book story arcs.

what the fuck! teen titans is cool too! try kazaa lite even tho therte are not too many episodes encoded or people is too fucking stingy to share at reasonable speeds

-- Anonymous, October 28, 2003

All I can say is this. American animators are getting desperate and are starting to copy anime. Look at kimba the white lion, disney copied off of it and made Lion King.

Therefore, all american anime sucks. Let's leave it to the proffesionals, shall we?

-- Anonymous, November 07, 2003

First of all, the word 'anime' comes from the Japanese loan word "animesho(o)n", which is 'animation' with a Japanese accent. If you talk to a Japanese person and you say "anime", they don't distunguish between Japanese anime and anime from the rest of the world. Back when the famous Tetsuwan Atom/ Astro Boy was created, Osama Tezuka (the creator of the comic/manga) said--sorry I don't have a direct quote-- that he was influenced greatly by Walt Disney. Sure, I have no proof of that, and no source, but the internet lacks stability most of the time.

Anyway, the Japanese copied off of American animation, and now, several decades later, Americans are copying the Japanese style of animation (for comics and cartoons.) And you know Pixar, the people behind Toy Story and the record-breaking Finding Nemo? The head guy's on the US release of Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away DVD saying that Pixar is inspired by Miyazaki's attention to detai. Everyone is constantly inspired by everyone else.

If you look at the credits of Teen Titans, you'll notice the director has a Japanese last name, and that the themesong was recorded by a Japanese group. So the influence is apparent, yes. But what I'd like to point out is the animation itself is produced by non-Japanese, non- American animators. (I'm pretty sure their names are Korean, because Korean animation studios are most prevelant in American animations now days.)

OK, I realize that was unorganized and half-developed, and I'd appreciate it if no attacks are made on my poor English skills. But the point I'm trying to make is there really is no 'true anime' or 'fake anime' or 'half-breed'. There's a huge difference in the Japanese and American traditional style of animation, but it's all essentially animation, and that should be kept in mind. As many Japanese and Americans develop their drawing and animation styles to resemble the styles of others, don't view their work as being "fake" or "half-bred", it doesn't seem right to have such prejudices. So the next time you view cartoons from anywhere, art from anywhere, develop an opinon based on your reaction to the piece, not the nationaity of those who drew or marketed it.

(And for the record, I think the concept of Teen Titans is good, and the animation is basic but attractive, but more than anything I wish the voice actors/actresses would have more emotion to match those relayed by the animation.)

Only some hot-blooded american otakus actually care enough to have this stupid debate when it is pretty much subjective.

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2003

teen titans is one of the best animes ever,(only second to rurouni kenshin) no matter wat the hell all you other losers think and all you other losers that think teen titans sux, go fuck yourself

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2003

i've never posted here before so don't get all pissed at me for writing this...

u guys should stop arguing (i don't care for spelling) and remember that everyone has different opinions. does it matter how different american cartoons and japanese anime are as long as they're good? in my opinion it doesn't and besides, you guys are getting off the subject. instead of arguing u guys should be helpin out kay.

and jus so u guys know i think teen titans is a pretty good show regardless of whether it's a japanese or american cartoon. the ones who like this show shouldn't be spending so much time arguing about it. if people think it's japanese or american that's there opinion. unless they back up their opinion by alot of facts that we can all see is right then u shouldn't have to think that that person is right or wrong. no one is forcing u to believe or not believe what it is. that's my opinion...

p.s. sry i don't know where you can get episodes for teen titans.

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2003

All right! This has gone a little too far. Teen Titans: 1. Made in cartoon network studios (american) 2. Writers, storybord directors, series directors (american & japaneese) 3. Sketch artists, ink and paint, charicter design (Japaneese)

who dont you people read the credits for cryin out loud, it says right in the credits that its a Warner Bros. production, cartoon network studios, so its not made in japan, AND to solve your anime arguments, they purposely hired korean, and japaneese artists, so it would add the anime effect (becuse people like that kinda stuff i guess lol) so if that doent solve further desputes, its hopeless (ps: ima huge fan, and their comeing out wit new episodes YAY!)

-- Anonymous, November 10, 2003

okay, just chanced upon this thread and found it really funny... As far as I can make out, the argument is Teen Titans : Anime or cartoon? Meaning no disrespect to either side, can I ask why it matters? The whole Simba/Kimba thing shows just how long the two styles have been influencing each other for, and Teen Titans is just the latest in a long, long line. One thing I did want to point out though is the fallacy that Korean animation means something is anime by default. Korean animation = cheap = Everyone uses it. The greatest American cartoon of the last ten years+ uses it - Does that make the Simpons anime?

-- Anonymous, November 14, 2003

As many others have said, Teen Titans is not an Anime. Am I saying the only good animation is Anime? NO WAY! I love American cartoons like Spongebob, Fairly OddParents, Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter's Laboratory (Shut up, I'm immature), and don't forget Family Guy (IT ROCKS! It' shouldn't have been cancelled...FOX didn't realize it's genius...*Sniff*), Futurama, and most definately South Park. But they are not Anime. They don't try to be Anime. They are good on their own. Teen Titans comes along and I watched the first episode. I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES. It is totally mocking Anime in all ways, and I have only seen that one episode. I saw classic things that should NEVER be seen out of Anime/Manga, such as the sweatdrop, Big-eyes thing, angry vein mark, and many others, and I said to myself "I swear to my holy Lord Jesus Christ the Heavenly Father that if I see the fall-down thing I am going to FIND SOME WAY to gather Otaku and sue the evil people who created this. I didn't see it, but my friend (a dub-anime fan, who I'm still in the process of coverting him and showing him the evil of FUNimation Dragonball Z...but I ramble...) said they do do the fall-down thing. That is going TOO FAR!!!!! And the song is sung like they're trying to immitate Japanese people singing in English, I mean listen to the "Teen Taitans!" at the end! Christ! Powerpuff Girls and Dexter CAN use certain anime elements at times (Like sometimes they randomly use chopsticks and I once saw Blossom reading a book with Japanese on the cover), but they don't copy the very original elements that make Anime unique from the average American cartoon. So yes, I'm DEFINATELY on the side that Teen Titans is not an Anime, and is CERTAINLY and ABSOLUTELY an utter disgrace to Japanese culture. That's all I gotta say about this topic, so Ja, minna-sa.

I am looking for that myself.
