Hello,

I want to oepn online dvd store. I am interested in opening online retail and rental store of dvds. I ask many friends and some people about information on getting license on that but they said that you are not required to get a license if you sell online, internet is not regulated much and some said that you can pay taxes on social security card as a sole prop. business and running it single handed so you not required license, but what about rental store?

Please advice. Thanks.

Speak to a competent attorney in whatever country you live in. If you live in America and want to rent DVDs, you should be aware that Netflix was recently granted a patent by the US Patent Office covering the online rental of DVDs. You may not be able to afford the licensing costs to set up online rentals because of this if you live in America. Setting up a retail only online shop would be easier, but again, you need to talk to an attorney, not friends and people you know.
