Thank you Harley for participating, and thanks to all those who participate. It is not easy running a forum for nobody to participate in.

Include me on that list. :>) While I dont desire a normal society job, I will live happily with my electric lights, central heat and air and flush toidy. I am perfectly content to rely on my computer manipulated portfolio and my BISF for income and sustinence. It is a comfortable, flexible and un scheduled lifestyle suspended between the two worlds , with the ability to bounce between the technilogical and agronomic worlds when the markets go soft or the drought hits. I like being a 21st or 22nd century pioneer :>)

Right off the bat, I would be fermenting the sunny D with mollasses to feed through the still I would be kluging together from the copper kettle I would find. I would stay drunk and warm :>)

Well from my perspective I find it a sad commentary that not only did those parents teach their children to cheat under difficult circumstances, but the neighbors helped them slide under the rules.

Seems to me that since they signed on to do something as a learning experience, they should have slogged on. A week of want would have taught them more than a week of cheating and illegal treats. Shame on the parents. There was no commitment to a learning process and the children will suffer as a result.

Electricity came to our area when I was a teenager. Telephones as well. Most of us out here still use a bath house and outhouse in the summer, although indoor plumbing is a good thing in winter and for small children. Our womenfolk have always worked the fields as well as the kitchen and our extended family helped in the raising of all the children. Biblical principals extend to all areas of life.

Stories such as the one above only reinforce my belief that we here are truly blessed to have known both worlds and to prefer the natural one instead of the artificial glitz being forced upon the masses.

I agree, it is a sad commentary. The problem is that the values of greater America are badly slipping. I just don't understand why someone agrees with a set of rules and then breaks them as soon as possible. My goodness, these people were given a whole storehouse of food! This woman cannot figure out how to bake with Wholewheat Flour???!!! Could it be that she was simply lazy???

I would love to have an outdoor bathhouse. I've been thinking of setting one up. I always enjoy your posts Harley!

Thanks Littlebit

It's good to be back on the old site. Thank you for all the interesting and thought provoking subject matter.

Re the bath house: Sis just showed me the July/Aug issue of Back Home Magazine. Includes detailed instructions for a wash house/bath house. They're calling it a bano? Whatever, you might try their website for the instructions.
