Why is it that OT prophecies are ok to read literally and not the NT prophecies?

Abraham sacrificing his son and seeing the lamb has a prophetic meaning, which is more than literal. This was the prophecy of Jesus being the sacrificial lamb. Christ' sacrifice on the cross for our salvation.

I read the new testament prophecies leterally too. Though, not all.

Examples:

1)Jesus said , about the woman who anointed him, that everyone will know about her. This is true.

2) Jesus talked about the destruction of the temple. It came true in AD 70.

3) I cannot acecept that most of the rpophecies of revelation apply to our times.

I tend to agree with you, Elpidio. The Book of Revelations is more about John of Patmos' own time, except the mention of the second comming of Christ, of course.

That's true Rod. It is hard to believe most fundamentalists think Revelation refers to today's times.

Strangeley enought. Ch. 13 was used to create the image of La Virgen de guadalupe around the 1530s. It was painted by El Indio Marcos, as Fray Bernrdino mentions in his Historia.
