I have NEVER seen a car or m/c frame without vin numbers,unless they have been removed after it left the factory-explain please

Anytime you buy a replacement frame from a dealer, it comes without a VIN. I bought new ZX6R and R1 frames before. Some manufacturers are more strict (eg Honda) who only sends frames out with your old VIN on it. So depending on the manufacturer, it is possible to buy brand new frames without VINs to replace the ones you bent in a crash.

I too can confirm that in the (U.K. at least)bodyshells/ bike frames are supplied with no V.I.N. stamped in, (we buy many),when purchased new from the manufacturer. Obviously when puchasing a 'new'unstamped frame it is important to ensure that you are not puchasing a previously used frame with the number erased. The seller of a legitimate 'new and unused' frame should be able to satisfy the purchaser, by producing a sales invoice for the frame,from a franchised dealer. Bob @ T.A.S. Ltd.
