Burn CD-r or CD-RW as DVD?

Is it possible to burn a CD-r or CD-RW as DVD? I do understand that it may accomodate only a small clip of video, But the picture quality will be much better for samll home video and that is why I am asking this question. - Thank you

Yes, it is possible. The downside is that almost no standalone DVD players will play them (probably only 2% will play them), but PCs won't have any problems. If you really want to do this, I would suggest you keep the bit rate to 4500 Kbps or less for best results with standalone DVD players. If you only want to play it on a PC, you can use higher bit rates. At 4500 Kbps, I would estimate that you will have roughly 19 minutes of video on an 80 minute CD-R.

You can use tmpeng to convert into and mpg file and then use nero or other to burn it as a VCD. You can download a trial version at
