Previous marriage and annulment

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Hello,

I was baptized a Catholic and I married a non-Catholic which was not done in the Catholic Church. I divorced that person for many reasons including my personal safety.

I remarried a non-Catholic which was previously married to another non-Catholic and they had a child together. Then they divorced.

How can we have his marriage annuled? Is it possible?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You would need to petition for annulment of both your first marriage and his; and both would have to be granted before your current relationship could be recognized by the Church as a valid marriage. If you still consider yourself Catholic, make an appointment with your pastor or parish priest - or with your diocesan office - to discuss the situation and receive necessary guidance in getting the process started.
