poe illustrated?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

hi all, i was just wondering if some of Poe's books were illustrated or adapted into graphic novels? I have 'the complete tales and poems of Edgar Allan Poe' (pingiun) and most of the stories are crying out to be illustrated!

I am an illustrator and graphic designer myself and would like to illustrate one or more of his short stories (seperate illustrated pages of a graphic novel).

Who do I need to approach?

sincerely yours,

Many great illustrators like Gustave Dore(the French admiration of Poe) and Beardsley, Dulac, Robinson etc. www.poeforward.com did Poe and were inspired by his theories and works. Googling around the markets might reveal other graphic novelizations like "The Shadow of Edgar Poe".

Eureka Productions has published a wonderful collection called "Graphic Classics: Edgar Allan Poe," in which some of the most inovative comic and graphic artists illustrate Poe's tales and poems. Gahan Wilson, Rick Geary, Maxon Crumb, and other big names contributed to it, as well as writers Joe Landsdale and Clive Barker. Every Poe fan should have a copy. You can buy it at Amazon.com, on this page: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/- /0971246416/qid=1065376343/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/104-9443810-9309564? v=glance&s=books
