Just curious when mileage will be done away with in NYC? I imagine I'm in the minority but given my driving habits, it's a winning change for me.

Bundling mileage was very well received in DC. In Boston, the jury is still out, but we have had a number of complaints. Before doing this in NY, we'd like to be sure it is the right thing to do.

I'm curious as to the reasons behind the decision? Is NYC so radically different in its renting behaviour or economic model from DC or Boston? Knowing what I know of both cities, I'm guessing not. So why no plans?

If NYC can get away with non-bundled rates, why can't Boston? It is not as if Boston drivers need to be discouraged from reserving cars too often. This rate bundling is not helpful. It only encourages drivers to go further, faster, and to mumble about Zipcar's own denial that this is a rate hike. I have been a faithful member for 3 years, and while I have never used Zipcars very often, I will use them even less often in the future, thanks to this "beneficial simplification".

DC is a bigger city in terms of driving distances than Boston. I'll bet that's why we DCer's love the bundle. I never bought into Zipcar until they started bundling because I didn't want ambiguity in how much the service would cost.

For the record I am in praise of Zipcar and tell everyone I know about it!

I'm surprised that there's any opposition to bundled rates. the per mile rate in Hoboken is what keeps me from using Zip Car. If bundled rates came to the NY area I would use the cars much more often
