AKIA DV-P4000 will not play home made Video CDs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have used Nero to create Video CDs from MPEG1 files and all appears to go OK. I have downloaded the QuickVCD Player and checked that the CD-Rs I have burnt work OK.However when I put them in my player the display shows READING and then NO DISC. I do not have any comercial Video CDs to test the player with and assume that this feature works as it says Video CD on the player and is in the manual. Has anyone any suggestions other than buy another player or is that the answer?

Go to http://www.vcdhelp.com and look at the DVD Player Compatibility List for your player. I am not familiar with your player, but most likely the problem is that it doesn't support CD-R discs. The only suggestion I have that might work is you could try burning to CD-RW and see if it likes that better. Some DVD players that won't play VCD on CD-R will play it on CD-RW. The only other option if you have a player that won't read CD-R is to buy another player. Sorry.
