I think your boy would be best served by mowing yards and working in a fast food restraunt. The Corps will do just fine at making him excellent with a rifle the same way they've been doing for other kids with little to no experience since 1775. I feel I'd have been better off not having fired a rifle before I went in, as I had to get rid of bad habits and re-learn the right way to shoot. Your son would be best served joining his school's cross country team and doing good at his school work. Your son isn't going to be able to take his rifle with him in the Corps anyway. If you're just going to throw money away, throw it my way, but throw it in the form of a McBros .50 and a case of ammo please. Thanks pops.

well do you think that a 15 year old kid should get used to military weapons since he wants to go into the core

its not the money im woried about. if it was that then i wouldent get the rifle i was just going to try it out and prolly give it to my son and teach hi how to use it.

If you're going to spend money on the Barret, I wouldn't bother. They're fun to shoot, but aren't a "sniper" quality of weapon. The Barret has a big ass checklist of shit that you need to look over and inspect each time before you fire it in order to insure it doesn't kill or seriously mame you. You'd be better off buying a McBros .50 or an AE AW in .338 if you've got enough money to throw away on a Barret.

Itīs hard to discribe, the recoil is different from regular rifles, but itīs very much managable. Similar to .308 Hunting Rifle i would say or maybe .30-06 at the most.

what recoil should i expect. something like a 12 gauge shotgun or worse

thanks for the last answer bobby

expect one hell of a good rifle for a start! itīs a pleasure to shoot, the recoil absorbtion is really effective on the m82A1 (otherwise it would break your collar-bone) as far as i know itīs standard care on the rifle like any other. However i have heard of a problem amongst some m82A1īs, that they go full-automatic sometimes fireing all 10 rounds, due to the mechanisms fail to "hinch" up between rounds.

canīt wait til i get fire one again !

just my 2 cents :)
