Actually, not all of the anime that CN plays is old. In fact most of it is fairly new. I do have to admit the dubbing is terrible most of the time, but guess what. CN doesn't do the dubbing (dubbing not subbing because I've never seen anything subbed on there at all), they just buy licensed anime that some other company has licensed. And yes they do edit anime for censorship reasons. You have to remember, as far as CN is concerned they are a for kids kind of place. They may say for over 18, but they know that those under 18 will be watching and unfortunately are forced to edit for that.

My overall opinion...if you really love anime, don't watch it on CN. Download the subs if you can. It's much less painful that way. ^_^

Alright. Why does everyone hate dubs SO much?? Every anime show I've ever seen on CN I found no problems with. Okay, so the voices don't "match the personality", but I would only consider that a minor inconvenience! It doesn't really matter what the characters sound like (unless they are *horribly* off, which I've never seen, not even in the Ranma dub), because when I'm watching anime, I don't concentrate on that part. I engulf myself in the story, completely blocking out the "bad" voices. Yeah, I can hear the voices, and can understand them, but I don't even notice them being bad. Also, for us people out there with 56Ks or worse, we can't get anime nearly as easily as you other people can. That's one reason I watch the dubs, It's hard to watch it anywhere else. So stop accusing these dubs of sucking! They are really just as enjoyable as the dubs if you would just stop taking anime for granted, put aside the minor inconveniences, and watch the anime!

Well, if you would watch an episode or movie of Ranma1/2, you'l start hating every other animes voice acting, and yes ranma1/2's voice acting is THAT bad!

Im sorry dude they do kill animes. Ex. Yu Yu Hakusho the fight in the Dark where Yusuke is fighting the guy with the Mask.uncut jap: Gen kai throw a ciggaret at Yusuke calling him a Baka he dogdes it and the fight starts. Yusuke gets his ass kicked the other guy has special helmet to see enegy that covers his eye's Yusuke Finds the Ciggaret and slips it under his belt as the guy charges him Yusuke uses the light from the cigerat to aim a Spirit gun at him. Funnimation cn dubb: no cigeret is thrown the y edit it to look like Yusuke got really pissed pulled a Gohan and just fired and hit the guy They destroyed Yu Yu Hakusho plus they try ti make EVERy Anime they get into DBZ because they saw how popular it was

Yo, just relax, and learn japanese.

I agree. The dubbings butcher the shows alot and its REALLY annoying. They make the characters say things that they won't usually say in Japanese which in my opinion ruins what the character really is. They even say things that probably can't happen, depending on time period, where they live, that sorta crap.

EXAMPLE: In one of the episodes from Inuyasha, Inuyasha said to Shippo, "Hey Shippo, your village called...they're missing their idiot."

Called? Called on what? Phone? THEY DONT HAVE THOSE IN ANCIENT JAPAN! It's mutany! This is why I hate dubbed episodes. I still watch them, but it's just for the sake of watching anime.

I also hate how they usually don't play the opening. Why can't they just play these things uncut? It's much better!

They slaughter Mobile Suit Gundam, first the start calling the Duchy of Zeon The Principality of Zeon, then there is Jabrow base getting called Jaboro and finally Gm's getting called Gims. They've killed too many good animes- by showing 2 episodes of Evangelion everybody thinks they know what they are talking about and the dubbing sucked. Long live subtitled anime!

Ookami Fluffer-sama,

Actually that instance of things coming up in conversations that shouldn't in InuYasha isn't confined to just the dub. I was watching a fan subbed episode and one of the characters said (in the subtitles anyway, unfortunately I don't speak Japanese to tell you if it was the same), "I feel like I've been hit by a truck." So those kind of things don't happen in just the dub they also can happen in the sub. ^_^

which ep? Ill tell you the literal tranlation.

-- Anonymous, August 03, 2003

This may be news to you but sometimes fansubbers get stuff wrong. Just because someone gets a raw episode and subs it doesn't mean that it's a good translation. Anyone can sub stuff, but getting it right is another thing altogether.

as much as i hate that they cut out the scenes, they kinda have to or else there won't be time for commercials

Uhh, Pimonger?

Principality of Zeon IS the real name, Jaburo IS the real name as well.

Although the GM - Gim thing is true.

here's my 2 cents

DOWN WITH CENSORSHIP... funimation too... not to mention all the parents who think they know what's best for everyone else's child because they're too ugly to get one of their own... and if they do have a child... they'd probably have died from embarrassment or shame by now

Most anime on TV sucks. the dubs on DVD are ok. But for most people subs is definitely the way to go. I can deal with either tho I prefer Japanese w/ English subs. I feel that US voice actors don't really put emotion into their work. Seiyuu do though. Also listening to the dialogue helps my Japanese studies ^_^

My idea is to disallow idiots to breed. That way, they don't infest the Earth with inferior seeds.

I mean, look at all the 12 year olds on Battle.Net. They're the people of the future. They'll be building our cars, protecting us from criminals, drawing our anime...

Damn, we're screwed.

i agree and i do hate american cartoons everytime a jap anime comes out here it always gets ruind the scenes,voices,music.... don't u just wish cartoon network can just show the original animes with no editting!

-- Anonymous, August 06, 2003

I agree with everyone, they need to do a better job dubbing anime, it's horrible for the most par. Like Sailor Moon, I think they had about 7 different attack names when there were only about 4 attacks, they continued to call something at least 4 different names, that in japenese only would be called one thing. (I dunno, did they think it would be boring it they said the same word more than once?) And the voices were horrible, Serena mainly, uggg. Thank god they enver did the 5th season, I think it's too much for them to edit, I mean, how would they explain men turning into women? (lol, I know a few ways other languages got around it)... and then there's Cardcaptor Sakura, oh wait.. I mean CardcaptorS.. why does it have an S? I don't know, Sakura is the only Cardcaptor. They amazing managed to turn a cute show... with some odd relationsships, into something, that looks like a cheap knockoff and should who ever made it should be shot -_-
