i'm a pro welder the go kart hobby is new to me and now I have a 5.5hp horizantal engine and welding can some one please help out. i need just the simple plan nothing big, and things like how the cluch works thing like that thank you for your help.

alright mate, the best thing to do if you want to make a simple and cheap go kart is get two sack trollys cut em in half but em up and weld em. that way youve got the tyres, hubs , tubes, axels and a frame for like 60 quid i built 1 and it gos about 30mph.

Try using a 160cc mower engine and put a pulley and v belt instead of sprocket and chain because it makes your go kart run better, smoother and faster. Or if not use a 125cc mower engine but make sure the crank shaft is still moving and not ciesed up.

I built a go kart and has a John Deere 440cc snowmobile engine on it and its fuckin nuts. It can whoop the shit out of anything on wheels. Its geared 4:1, 17 tooth top sprocket and 72 on the axle. This fucker does about 120mph top end and about 100 in the 1/4. Oh and also if anyone was wondering it has so much torque it can pull shittys on pavement. 2 cycle and it shows on a dyno. yours is a 4 cycle big difference. The best thing you can do is draw it out for your self. it's not hard, my first one i did it in my head., from ground up.

I agree with what you guys are sayin. I know a few sites, but they cost a bit. Im 16 and buildin one as a GCSE project. As soon as the examiner has marked it, im rippin it to pieces and im gonna use a honda 90cc motor. Im makin it out of steel tubin and im just usin shit i found round school. So all you kids out there read this... You don't have to spend much. Everything apart from the motor was free. The motor was 18 quid and i only had to spend an hour makin it work. The whole thing goes 45mph now, so dont go over the top with the size of your motor. I seriosuly recomend you speak to your tech teacher, even if you don't do tech, just so he/she can give you sum ideas. I built it all by myself, learnin as I went, and it has been so much fun. So all you bastards who say get a job and buy one are losers. Its the makin thats the fun bit. and i aint a loser. Im a locally sponsored skater, i have a girlfriend of 1 year a 4 months and i am currently an A* student who still goes out at the weekends with his mates and gets drunk. So screw you, coz it is well worth the build, especially if you can get a GCSE out of it.

GO to www.desertkarts.com. Iam 14 I have thare go kart plans and they rock . I am a nucaler starfide welder. I took a sable engine and stuck it in the go kart .The down side is the plans arnit free my mom was mad, bescause it was her car that she used every day there is no engine in the car know. But the go kart is super fast about 150mph. "be carefully"
