I know that a normal sniper scope with the MD sites has a distance of 10mils but how much dose a standard hunting scope have so I can use my range chart to figure out the range

Yes I have done some field testing since I asked the question and have found out how to estimate range with it. The scope I have has a 30/30 reticle which is a standard hunting scope reticle. Here is a direct link to the tasco website indicating the different types of scope reticles http://www.tasco.com/riflescopes/reticles.shtml (30/30 top left of picture)On a standard 30/30 at a 9 times zoom the thin cross hair lines represent 2mils and hence you can line up a target and using the range estimating formula determine the distance to a target.
If anyone ahs different views then pleas post.

Range estimation is done by the size of target subtended by 1 milliradian (mil), not the number of mils on your scope. If you have a civilian scope with no mil dots, take it to the range and find what a standard full-size silhouette looks like at different ranges.

Are you talking about a civilian mil-dot scope, or just any old civilian scope. Different models have different characteristics. Even two scopes at the same magnification, for example, may have a different field-of-view.
