restarting encoding in nero

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I was encoding a avi file and had a power outage. I have nero 5.5. I was wondering is there a way that i can restart where it left off. I do believe that it was all the way through, but it didn't get to the write stage. Is there a way to just get it to the write and not have to encode all over again. I did save the changes. Ok thanks for any help.

You can not restart at the point of power failure. You will have to start all over. Nero is not a good encoder. You would really be better to learn to use TMPGenc. http://www.vcdhelp.com has some guides that can help you. However, if you believe that Nero finished encoding, you can play the final file with some kind of media player such as a software DVD player or maybe Windows Media Player and see if it looks complete. If it does, you should be able to burn it.

You can cut the encoded part from the AVI file using virtualdub or any other software and then encode the remaining part using TMPGenc. Finally join both encoded parts. This can be done with the use of TMPGenc.

Please ensure that to keep a copy of the original before cuttting out the first part in case if you damage the video.
