Let's talk about God!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

Isn't God awesome! Isn't Jesus magnificent and our only Lord and Savior and what a gift the Holy Spirit is to us. And we have all three by saying YES! I want you in my life. I look at all the questions on this board and the real answers are spiritual. God can and will take care of us.

Let's talk about God. What has he done for you lately? What prayer requests do you have? Share a testimony, is there a scripture verse or song that strengthens you.

We live in a secular world but we are children of God. Let''s talk about him as much as we talk about worldly things.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for all the blessings you give us everyday. Many of which we take for granted, yet you still bless us. Please forgive us for not saying thank you enough. You have delivered us from evil and you will do it again. I ask for spiritual renewal on this discussion board, that we will lay aside fear and allow you to take care of worldly problems. I pray that we will turn back to you and praise you and share the good news with someone who does not know you. You and you alone are our salvation, our reason for being, we love you and adore you, please continue to watch over us. Amen

A few of my favorite verses that gave me strength while I was competing for Miss Virginia:

Psalm 27:13 I would have fainted, if I had not believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Hebrews 6:15 And so, after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

I Peter 4:12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings in Christ.

Also my meditation during the Sept. 11 tragedies:

Romans 8:39 Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God is so good to us, better than we can be to ourselves...

God IS,That sums it up for me. He is my all and all, he answeres everyone of my prayers and he has blessed me to have two children that are grown and love and know him. I thank God I have never had to go to jail or court for either one of them, They kept Him in their lives, My sons is 33 my daughter is 31 and I am proud of what God has done in their lives. He keeps me day by day and I love Him, He is everything. As I stated before GOD IS and I thank Him for his saving GRACE.

If it had not been for the Lord on my side...where would I be.

God is my refuge and my strength. A very present help in time of trouble.

Thank you everyone for responding to my question. This past sunday, I told my congregation we have to be "apiritual tortoises" for God. I used the illustration of the children's story the "tortoise and the hare' where the rabbit runs a race against the turtle. Everyone just knew the rabbit would win, including the rabbit. But what courage it took for the turtle to show up and run. When we have faith in God, it does not matter what the rest of the world is doing. We know we are going to win the race. Why? Because Jesus has one the race for us, we are to keep going one step at a time, it may not be flashy or fast, but we will win because scripture tells us to. It is so important that we talk about God and Jesus on this board, for by sharing our truimphs and our pain we can pray for one another. There would not be a discussion board if God had not laid it on Rev. Fisher's heart. We would not know each other if Richard Allen had not stood on the word of scripture and turned to God. He was a "spiritual tortoise" he and his friends met in a livery stable, they had to deal with racism, no money, but they kept pressing on, we are the by product of his tremendous faith. There are those in our denomination that will spend much time complaining about the problems and say our church is dead. They said the same thing to Richard Allen, ignore them, release them from your life and ask God what we are to do for him. Let every day begin and end with praise for the father, and I pray that praise will spill over to this discussion board. Thank you all so much who have responded so far, I was getting a little sad, because it did not seem anyone wanted to talk about God.
