How many Evangelion manga volumes are there?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Animes : One Thread

You know, I've been wondering... Since both the american publication by Viz and the brazilian are only available up to the same point (stage 48, I think) I'm really starting to believe the manga series were left unfinished.

Is that true or not? And, if it isn't, is the ending of the manga as crappy as the movie?

ive only seen up to volume 7 of this manga, and it never seems to get any further than it so i dunno. maybe it didnt sell well enough so they canned it (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

and the movie wasnt crappy, i thought it was very cool, just the ending needed a lot of thought

Oh, no, I wasn't talking about the movie itself, which I think is pretty good.

I just feel that they did such a wonderful job in character development during the series, just to end everything like that. I sure wasn't hoping for a happy ending, but I don't like the ambiguity of that. Maybe if Asuka wasn't at Shinji's, side, and he got the world he always wanted, to be always alone, I think that would suit it better. But that's just my opinion...

Eigth manga volume has been out in Taiwan for two months..which probably means that a ninth one is nearly out in Japan.

thats weird, the other volumes have been out for ages. how come it takes so long to produce?

Yeah, I hope that's true. When I realized that, I almost lost my will to keep collecting the books... I've been looking on some japanese online stores, and they only seem to have up to book 7, too...

Anyway, what happened? Did Sadamoto drop the manga to start the TV series?

I've seen the eigth volume at a convention, but that's as far as I know it goes. It probably was cancelled one way or another.

Hey, has anyone read the Newtype Magazine for Apr. 2003? It had an whole article about Evangelion. I know this has nothing to do with the manga, but what is that all about? Are they planning to some how continue Evangelion? Althought I really doubt that, but I'm still cofused after reading it.

Someone said that Sadamoto might have dropped the manga for the anime? Well, that can't be true because Yoshiyuki Sadamoto worked on the Evangelion manga AFTER the anime. Yes, Volume 8 is already in Japan, but I've heard no word whatsoever on Volume 8 in America....they couldn't have discontinued it because the VIZ website hasn't said a thing on discontinuing it...OH!! The Eva manga in Graphic Novel form is released almost BI-YEARLY. The next one should be out in DECEMBER, maybe later.

BTW, Kaworu is in volume 8. ^^ It might end at Volume 8 or 9...I dunno. But if VIZ does drop it, I sure hope another company, maybe Tokyopop, gets it after. The Eva manga are too expensive....
