Quality of Life in a poor quality age

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

Many people would say we have a great quality of life in 2003. I don't think so. Oh yes, we have flush toilets, electricity, and computers, but I think we have lost more than we have gained. I think that increased technology has diminished our humanity somewhat. Not to mention that, it has made our desire for the necessary skills of life nearly disappear. I read a study that said that workers in the Silicone Valley have less space in their cubicles than homesteaders would give a veal calf. That is not quality of life to me.
