Of course, I must call the name of one, the Rev. Dr. Allen Wayne Parrott, as a worthy candidate for the office of Bishop. Rev. Parrott has given a good day's work as a successful pastor and a popluar Presiding Elder. He would make a wonderful bishop in our church. He listens well, he's fair, he's a good administrator and a people person. I have watched him with great delight over my almost 20 years of knowing him elevate to higher heights. Every elevation has made him more humble to serve. I have no doubt that if elected to serve as a bishop, he will continue to be the humble servant that he is now. Take a look at him! He's my choice!

From the continent of Africa, I want to put forward the name of Rev. Andrew B Lewin. He has been the Administrative Assistant to Bishop Robert Thomas, Bishop McKinley Young, Bishop Harold B Senatle and now Bishop Gregory GM Ingram and could have learnt a lot to be the Chief Pastor of an Episcopal District.

Further on my list will be the Rev. Dr. Leroy Attles from St. Paul AME Church in Cambridge - a seasoned elder who has made a tremendous impact on the people and community in Boston. I can detect that he has earned the respect of many an AME and Bishops to make him one of the top candidates. His Social ministry, which is so important in this day and age, has benefit Boston and surrounding areas and I am sure that he will carry this forward.

Another on my list is the Rev. Dr. E Earl McCloud from First AME Church in Atlanta. His administrative capabilities, his financial plan and his vibrancy will be beneficial to any situation and specifically in my opinion, an Episcopal District.

I am asking you to pray with me for these candidates and also the others that are running.

God Bless You All.

Rev. William C Legolie, II

P.S. I will lift out in the new future another name or two.

The worthiness of a particular candidate is like his or her beauty in the eye of the beholder.

Some candidates are interesting nonetheless.

George Lovelace Champion, Kenneth Hill, Ricky Spain and Dennis Dickerson are all general officers who hope to make the jump to episcopal leadership.

Then there are repeat candidates Attles, Mc Allister and of course for a third time Carolyn Tyler Guidry.

and now with Frank M Reid and the potential African delegation

For more information on potential candidates, their home pages are linked to their names on my Candidates' List. As always, if there are new announcements (I need to add David R. Daniels, for example) please pass the word, and I'll update the table.

Thanks,

Bro. King, I can't get past the fact that there are 46 announced candidates (44 men, 2 women). My PE told us that the expectation is at least 100 candidates by Gen Conf 2004.

It blows my mind. We have 9 seats to fill, right? That will take a great deal of voting and time.

it should prove to be very interesting--I wouldn't miss it for the world.
