its probally very simple i just never new what long action and short action are because it might be important to know cuz im going to get a new bolt action rifle

in a nutshell its in the length of the bolt pull,30,06 is long and 308.win is short,shorter actions are faster and can be more accurate,the trend nowdays is shorter is better,with all the new short mags coming out,the day of the L.A's may be over,bobby
