Im confused.....the towns look present..but I dont see any cars or computers or such in the comics....Im curious now!

Most anime shows are like that. IMO, it takes place in the present, but in an alternate diminsion. There was at least one episode in which they had a TV.

keep in mind that unless you are rich, the Japanese use their feet and the subway for transportation. But... that still doesn't explain the computers missing...

it was probably the 80's, cos thats when it was made, and a time when pc's weren't main stream
