Was I the only one pissed with the ending to Ranma 1/2 ending (manga)??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Animes : One Thread

Honestly... I WAS SO PISSED... Rumiko Takahashi did such a great job of making us care for the characters, then they dont even get married?!?!! ARG!! What the hell...

Any way - what was your reaction? I almost threw my computer out the window... But it was still a great series.

suppose it wasnt great, but ive seen worse.

and it leaves the series open to a sequel

Yeah, but she isn't planning on doing a sequel, or at least I haven't heard any plans of one. Is there supposed to be a sequel?

Nah...I kinda liked it that they didn't get married. I'm not into the marriage stuff. But I have to admit, it sucked a little that the marriage got busted again. How many times was that used in the whole manga?

No, there are no sequels to Ranma. It ends the way it did.

Still, You get so into the characters. I am into the romantic- comedy (sad thing is, im a guy and i like that shit)....

Do you realize that through the whole series Ranma and Akane only kiss ONCE!!! AND THAT WAS WHEN RANMA WAS IN CAT-FU MODE!!!!

Oh, and don't forget when Ranma and Akane had to do that play.

Dude, there is nothing wrong with like romance and if you're a guy. Hell, that's a plus for you since girls like guys like that. I should know since I'm a girl!!

Reading this post I find it funny, you who complain about the ending.... You care about the characters but they live in the minds of the author alone and are born of the Author's creation into being living on in your mind. Why do you bother the idea of art is to inspire, since Rembrant to Nische. If you like those things like romance then imagine how the character would act in such a setting. Your mind is the stage, the idea's of Authors, the Unfinished script in a neverending story. Also I find Romance is alot less useful than most believe it is , a correct quote is "Every romance is bound to end in tragedy, unless both lovers died at the same time, there would be a tragedy to the other".

- I have learned to hate the love of the naive but, desolation follows the love of the hated because in humanity Ideas are as concrete as water..Conastantly shaped and changed in time and memory..

Comments on the above Post:

- Ranma is not Othello, nor Romeo (though I liked that episode), nor Leander, nor Antonini, nor Ikari Shinji. C'mon man, it's a comedy after all...

Ahem, back on discussion, In my humble opinion, I think the ending wasn't that bad, since it kind of leaves the story open for the reader to conclude it the way one imagines it.

My version: Ranma and Akane eventually get married, and, and... (hm, gotta see some more mexican soap operas...) OUCH!

*is hit by a flying piquet with 'SHUT UP' written on it*

I haven't watched the ending of Ranma... still making through season 2 XP. But from what i've seen, i don't expect them to get married at the end. It just doesn't seem like the type of thing Ranma 1/2 the series have been gearing towards. I was expecting everything (problems) to be resolved. Also, i don't expect the characters to become normal (ranma now a full boy). But since you've already seen everything i'm sure you know if they do or not.

Well That would be because the anime and manga have different endings if my memory is still with me....(now that would be a surprise.....)in the manga they DO get married however I personally prefer the anime ending.and theres nothing wrong with a guy liking shojo I know I do!! :).

Let me think of the future with Akane an Ranma....

They probably will get married. However.... it'll be forced. Something like... Ranma mom.. going like "You must marry her to manly". Then if Ranma doesn't marry... then his mom will kill him for not being manly enough!

I thought the ending was fine.

I heard the ending in the anime is very disappointing, something about ranma reunited with his mother.

*spoiler* do not read if you don't want to know

I've only read the manga so far.. looking for the tv episodes, but as far as i know the last two mangas are the great grand finale. Ranma goes around fighting and stuff, and somehow akane get's "killed" so ranma starts to cry and everything and akane wakes up, then erm.. embarressment and such. Ranma then agrees to marry akane and vice versa, but the marriage get's messed up by everyone else.. and it ends

*/spoiler*

Yeah.. i think the ending isn't exactly appropriate.. but i'd say the same if they did get married :p

The ending in the manga series was SHIT i mean i didnt expect him to get married to akane anyway i thought he was gonna marry ukyo but still i mean it left you at a dead end

Both the manga and the anime finish's with Ranma and Akane leaving for school! but what happens before this is different in the manga and anime, and yes the last ep is about Ranma meeting is mother.

I'm still missing a few ep of season 7, but I have the 2 last one, and it does suck.

And as for the ending, me, I see them getting married, but only after Ranma ends is training, cuz a warrior in trainning does not have time for women! and I'm also a guy and I like shoujo manga, some are really funny! lol!

They DO get married! At least in the manga! 'The wedding was postponed... but not for too long!' It doesn't show the wedding but I'm sure that tells us that they do get married...

I wish she would've shown the wedding though... That'd be cool.
