Rurouni Kenshin is based after a movie called Samurai X which is were he is the butosi. I recomend seeing this anime its very gory and wonderful...he has a wife but she dies something you dont know about in the anime show you talk of.. and as all good animes are it was derived from a manga series in the first place. In short Rurouni Kenshin comes from a anime movie called Samurai X!

lord tempesta, ur actually talking about the ova's, which have 4 half an hour episodes and 2 1 hour episodes. the actual anime movie exists called rurouni kenshin: Ishinshishi he no Rekiem. i think it takes place after the shishio saga, a couple of weeks after kenshin is fully healed, but before the christian knight saga starts.

btw - samurai x is the english name for rurouni kenshin. what ur saying wouldnt make sense because ur saying the anime is based on an anime movie, but then afterwards u say it comes from the manga.

Sim's right. Rurouni Kenshin is the true anime; Samurai X is the english name for the OVAs (though the movie was based upon the series, not the OVAs).

well...There are 6 OVAs and a motion picture.And although what you guys are saying about the samurai X name is very true...the japanese weren't too happy about it. They wanted the named changed from samurai x because they thought the name was a misrepresentation of the actual kenshin story. Although they tried...they failed because too many americans had grown to know the kenshin story as the Samurai X story and they figured it would pretty much be too much hassle to change the name.if you guys like kenshin, you should check out my site....soon the episodes and ovas will be back up for download =)
