What is VCD version 2.0, 1.1, 3.0 etc., what is the difference between them. What is PBC ON / PBC OFF ? How it is being used in VCD players

VCD 1.1 is primative, no frills VCD. VCD 2.0 added support for "interactive menus" (whatever that means - VCD menus are hardly what I would call "interactive") and still photos, making photo VCDs possible. VCD 3.0 supposedly is closer to SVCD, but finding such discs may be very difficult. I've never seen one. Supposedly the old I-Author program could make VCD 3.0 discs, but I am skeptical. Those of us who found I-Author years ago on warez sites discovered that it couldn't make anything but SVCDs. PBC is playback control. This allows you to skip to entry points (also called "chapters") or other items in the VCD and playback what you like.
