I wrote accuracy international and asked them what ammo they reccomended I use in my AE, here is there response:

Dear Sir, AI have asked me to answer your query over ammunition. Blackhills Moly should be fine in your AE rifle. The ammo has a very good reputation. I would also try some non moly ammo as some barrels don't like it much when new! The barrel of the AE rifles is stainless steel with a 1 in 12" twist which is ideal for the 168g sierra as used ib Blackhills ammo. I would recommend you run the rifle in by gentle shooting & cleaning which will pay dividends in the future. Kind regards, Graeme Clarke

Good to see all the information being passed from some current owners and prospective customers asking for assistance. I test and proof all the AE's I sell with Federal GM308 168gr. When customers request the rifle and scope be sighted I normally use the same unless requested otherwise. I have tried Remington, Winchester, CorBon, Black Hills and Lapua. The rifle as usual will determine which it prefers. I recommend all my customer try several brands and loads to verify prospects. I have x2 AE's instock for $2238.00 + s/h to your FFL at this time if anyone is interested. Call or email for information on options and accessories. I would like a copy of that worksheet as well. If you don't mind. Also please let me know, where I can get an AE for a decent price, lowest so far is $2100.00. I've had my money allocated already just waiting for the right deal.

I have and AE and it is absolutely great rifle. I currently shoot Federal Gold Medal 168 grn. at 100yards it is .33 MOA, the longest range we have here is 700 yards and it shoots a 6 inch group there so I can't complain. I will be going up to the 175 grn to buck the wind, it just has better ballistics. You guys might be interested in my ballistics worksheet that I made for my AE, I made it with a computer ballistics program and have thoroughly tested it. Well hope this helps you ....later

AI AE is a very, very nice rifle. If you want to achieve maximum accuracy, you probably want to use match grade ammo with full metal jacket. I like Federal, but the brand does not matter. What is important is that you need to use the same brand/load in order to get consistent result.
